Emerald Ash Borer Treatment

Described by many ecologists as one of the worst natural disasters of the past 500 years, Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) will kill every ash tree it touches, which are half the trees in many American towns! But it can be stopped with a simple, inexpensive treatment.

Our professionals inject a safe insecticide into the tree’s trunk at the base of the tree. The tree takes the product into its vascular system, circulating the treatment throughout. Within 24 hours, the product has entered every part of the tree.

Your ash tree will be inoculated and 100% resistant to Emerald Ash Borer. Once two years pass, the tree is re-treated. Once the infestation of Ash Borer in the area die or move to new regions, your tree will no longer need to be treated. Contact us to schedule a consultation and save your ash trees!

Emerald Ash Borer
- An Invasive History -

Established populations of EAB were first detected in the United States and Canada in 2002, the original EAB introduction likely occurred in the early to mid-1990s in Michigan. Since then, EAB has become a serious pest in North America and parts of Europe, causing widespread tree mortality, and spreading rapidly on both continents.

Key Facts:

  • Since 2002, EAB has killed millions of ash trees across the United States and Canada.

  • The Ash Borer is native to northeast Asia and is a wood-boring beetle. It is thought to have arrived in North America on wood packaging materials.

  • EAB was first detected near Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario in 2002.

  • EAB has spread to more than 30 US states and 5 Canadian provinces.

Impact:

  • EAB has killed untold millions of ash trees in forest and urban settings. Near the epicenter of the invasion in southeast Michigan, more than 99% of ash trees have been killed. Emerald Ash Borer has cost billions of dollars in damage and loss to homeowners across North America in the last 20 years.

Prevention:

  • The #1 most effective method to stopping Emerald Ash Borer is to treat all ash trees with a pesticide -- Emamectin Benzoate -- from a certified arborist and licensed chemical applicator.

  • To further prevent the spread of the EAB, buy or collect only local firewood. Firewood acts as a vessel that introduces borers into previously non-infested areas.
